What Ventilation Button Means
The ventilation or fan button on a Liebherr wine cabinet is not a cooling control. Liebherr describes it as raising the humidity inside so that corks do not dry out, on top of the interior fan's ordinary job of keeping the temperature even, and recommends it specifically where wine is being stored long term rather than brought to drinking temperature.
Common Causes of Ventilation Button
- The setting is off on a cabinet being used for long-term storage
- The setting is on in a room humid enough to make condensation visible
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If you keep bottles for years rather than months, turn it on and leave it on — its indicator lights while it runs. If you are noticing condensation on the glass instead, that is the trade-off, and the setting is the first thing to reconsider.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Dried corks are slow, invisible damage — by the time a bottle shows it, the wine has already been exposed, which is why the setting matters more than its modest description suggests.
- A fan that does not run at all when the setting is enabled is a different problem, and one that also affects how evenly the cabinet holds its temperature.
