What DEMO Means
DEMO is Liebherr's showroom setting: the panel lights, the temperature reads normally and the cabinet looks alive, but as Liebherr's own wine-cabinet manuals put it in as many words, the cooling circuit is switched off. It exists so appliances can be presented at exhibitions and in salesrooms, and it occasionally survives delivery into somebody's kitchen.
Common Causes of DEMO
- The mode was left active after a showroom or exhibition display and never cleared
- The key combination that toggles demo mode was pressed by accident
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Before you do anything else, get perishable food out of a cabinet showing DEMO — it is not cooling, however convincing the number on the display looks. Some Liebherr generations document an owner key sequence to leave demo mode; the built-in Comfort and Premium manuals instead tell you to contact after-sales service, so check the instructions for your own model rather than guessing at button combinations.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A cabinet in demo mode reports temperatures it is not actually holding, which is precisely the situation where food goes off while the display insists everything is fine.
- Several Liebherr generations route demo mode out through the after-sales service rather than an owner sequence, so if the documented key presses do nothing on your model, the control needs someone with the service access to clear it.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
