What h0-h5 Means
An h with a digit after it is Liebherr's display-brightness item in the set-up mode. Where the scale starts varies by generation — some manuals document h0 as the lowest setting, others begin at h1 — but in all of them the value governs how brightly the panel is lit and nothing about how the freezer runs.
Common Causes of h0-h5
- The set-up mode was opened and the brightness item reached
- A very low setting chosen deliberately for a utility room, garage or bedroom
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Choose the value with the up and down buttons and confirm the way your model's set-up mode describes. Liebherr notes the new brightness takes hold after about a minute, and that any button press lights the panel fully for a minute before it settles back.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Where the lowest value extinguishes the panel entirely, a perfectly healthy freezer looks exactly like one with a dead display, and that misreading costs a visit that finds nothing.
- A panel that ignores the brightness buttons altogether is a different sign, and that one is worth reporting rather than adjusting.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
