What DEMO Means
Liebherr's wine-cabinet manuals are the bluntest in the range about what demo mode does: the appliance presents itself as though in normal operating mode, DEMO appears in the display, and the cooling circuit is switched off. It exists for exhibitions and salesrooms, and it is the reason a cabinet can read 12 degrees while sitting at room temperature.
Common Causes of DEMO
- Showroom mode left enabled from a retail display or an exhibition unit
- The two-button combination pressed accidentally while adjusting the cabinet
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If bottles are stored in a cabinet showing DEMO, treat them as unrefrigerated and move anything heat-sensitive first. Liebherr documents an owner exit on the Vinidor and Vinothek manuals — a two-button hold for about five seconds, stepping through the displayed prompts until the refrigeration unit starts and the temperature display flashes.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Nothing else in the Liebherr range fails this convincingly: a cabinet in demo mode reports a perfect storage temperature it is not producing, and a collection can sit in it for weeks before anyone notices.
- If the documented sequence will not bring the refrigeration unit back on, the control is no longer doing what the manual describes and needs someone with service access.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
