What Dashes in the Display Means
When a Liebherr freezer shows dashes rather than a number, the compartment is above zero degrees Celsius and the control has declined to print a figure it does not consider meaningful. Liebherr lists this among the normal displays at start-up, and among the things worth acting on when it turns up any other time.
Common Causes of Dashes in the Display
- Normal start-up before the compartment has passed freezing
- Recovery after a manual defrost or a long door-open episode
- A genuine loss of cooling that has let the compartment above zero
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
From a cold start there is nothing to do but wait, and Liebherr asks that frozen food is not loaded until a proper temperature appears. On a running cabinet, check the door seal and the ventilation, then treat a display that does not recover within a few hours as a same-day matter.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Dashes on a cabinet that was reading normally yesterday describe a compartment at fridge temperatures or warmer, which for frozen food is not a waiting situation.
- Whether the cause is airflow, defrost or the refrigeration circuit itself is not visible from the display, and the last of those is sealed-system work that belongs with a qualified technician.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
