What h0-h5 Means
An h followed by a digit is the display-brightness setting, which Liebherr includes so a panel can be matched to the room it lives in. The scale differs slightly by generation — some manuals document h0 as no illumination at all, others start the range at h1 as minimum — but in every case it controls the panel, not the appliance.
Common Causes of h0-h5
- The set-up mode was opened and the brightness item selected
- A dim or dark panel was set deliberately for a bedroom, hallway or open-plan kitchen
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Step through the values with the up and down buttons and confirm with whichever button the setting mode used to get in. Liebherr notes that the chosen brightness takes effect after about a minute, and that pressing any button lights the panel at full brightness for a minute regardless of the setting.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- On the generations where h0 means no illumination, a panel set there looks exactly like a dead display — which is worth checking before anyone concludes the control board has failed.
- A panel that will not respond at any brightness setting is a genuinely different sign, and one that does belong with a technician rather than in a settings menu.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
