What Dashes in the Display Means
Dashes where a freezer temperature should be are Liebherr's way of saying the compartment is above zero degrees Celsius — warm enough that the control will not print a number for it. On first start-up, or after the appliance has been off, this is expected and clears as the compartment pulls down past freezing.
Common Causes of Dashes in the Display
- Normal start-up, with the compartment still above freezing
- A door left open long enough for the compartment to rise above zero
- A loss of cooling that has allowed the freezer side to climb past freezing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
From a cold start, wait. Liebherr asks owners not to load frozen food until the display reads a real temperature, and depending on ambient conditions that can take several hours. On a cabinet that has been running normally, dashes appearing out of nowhere are the opposite of reassuring and deserve attention the same day.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Dashes on a settled cabinet mean the frozen contents are above zero, which is past the point where Liebherr's own guidance says frozen food should no longer be relied on.
- Telling a slow pull-down apart from a cooling failure means watching the trend rather than the display, and on a NoFrost cabinet the reasons for the second are mostly behind panels.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
