What HOLIDAY Means
HOLIDAY in the display is a setting, not an error, and it explains a fridge that reads far warmer than anyone set it to. Liebherr's own FAQ puts the target at roughly plus 15 degrees Celsius: warm enough to save energy while you are away, cold enough to stop the cabinet developing the smell that a switched-off fridge does.
Common Causes of HOLIDAY
- The mode was set before a trip and not canceled on return
- The holiday button was pressed in passing while reaching for another control
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press the holiday button briefly to come out of it — Liebherr documents it as a single-button function on the models that offer it. Then give the cabinet time to pull back down before restocking, rather than filling a warm fridge with a full shop.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Liebherr recommends not storing food in the fridge compartment while the mode runs, so a cabinet quietly left in it is holding groceries at a temperature that was never meant to have groceries in it.
- On a combined appliance the freezer compartment keeps its own setting throughout, which is why the mode can run for weeks without anything looking obviously wrong.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
