What Sabbath Mode Symbol Means
Liebherr fits a Sabbath mode to its US built-in cabinets and to the PremiumPlus ECBN line, and gives it its own symbol in the display. While it is running the interior light stays off when a door opens, the interior fan holds whatever state it was in, and — the part that surprises people — there is no door-open alarm and no temperature alarm at all.
Common Causes of Sabbath Mode Symbol
- The mode was activated deliberately for observance and has not yet timed out
- The set-up sequence was entered accidentally while adjusting another function
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If a cabinet has gone quiet and dark inside for no obvious reason, check the display for the Sabbath symbol before assuming a lamp or switch has failed. The ECBN manual notes that the mode ends by itself after 120 hours, and both generations document a set-up sequence to leave it early.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- With both alarms suspended, a door genuinely left open or a compartment genuinely losing temperature passes without a sound, so a cabinet sitting in this mode unnoticed is a cabinet with its safety net folded away.
- A dark interior with a working display looks identical to a failed light or a failed door switch, and the wrong conclusion there costs a call-out for a setting.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
