What Power Failure Symbol Means
Before Liebherr moved to spelled-out text displays, the same warning arrived as a power-failure symbol flashing in the temperature display. What makes it useful rather than merely alarming is what it holds: the appliance shows the warmest temperature the freezer side reached while the supply was out, so you get a number rather than a guess.
Common Causes of Power Failure Symbol
- A mains interruption long enough for the frozen compartment to lose its reserve
- A breaker trip, a switched-off socket or a plug knocked loose
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Read the peak temperature the display is offering before you clear it, because that figure is your evidence for judging the food. Pressing the alarm button cancels the display and returns the cabinet to its normal reading; the appliance meanwhile carried on at the setting it had before the interruption.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Liebherr is specific that thawed food should not be refrozen and spoiled food should not be eaten, which makes the recorded peak temperature worth reading rather than dismissing.
- If the symbol appears without any outage you are aware of, the appliance has lost power in a way you did not see, and that is a socket, cable or internal supply question rather than a food one.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
