What IceMaker Symbol Flashing Means
On Liebherr cabinets that show ice-making status as a symbol rather than as text, a flashing IceMaker symbol is its own problem indication. The Malfunction chapter gives it no cause list at all — it says there is a problem and sends it to after-sales service, which is Liebherr's way of marking something that cannot be resolved from the panel.
Common Causes of IceMaker Symbol Flashing
- A problem in the IceMaker control that the appliance reports without naming
- A water, sensing or drive problem that has already failed its own checks
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
The owner-side checks belong to the separate "IceMaker does not make any ice cubes" entry in the same chapter: the IceMaker switched on, the drawer closed, the water connection open, the hoses and screens clear. A symbol that keeps flashing once all of those are right is the problem Liebherr means.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The flashing symbol is shorthand on a display that has no room to be specific, so it is the least informative of Liebherr's ice-maker indications and the one most in need of a proper read-out.
- On a plumbed cabinet, a problem left flashing keeps a live water connection paired with a control that no longer trusts its own ice-making cycle, and that is a combination worth closing out.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
