What Alarm Test Means
Liebherr builds an alarm test into the Profi controllers and recommends running it at regular intervals to confirm the alarm function still works. The display flashes, the audible warning sounds, and the test ends by itself after a few seconds. On the fuller controllers the test walks the reading up to the high alarm limit and down to the low one so an external alarm device is exercised too.
Common Causes of Alarm Test
- Routine verification that the alarm and any connected external device still respond
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
This is genuinely an operator job and worth putting on a cleaning schedule. A commercial freezer's alarm is the thing standing between an overnight failure and a morning of discarded stock, and an alarm nobody has tested is an assumption rather than a safeguard.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- An alarm test that produces no sound has found something, and a silent alarm circuit on a commercial freezer is worth treating as a problem in its own right.
- Where an external alarm or monitoring system is connected, Liebherr states that connection to an external alarm device may only be carried out by trained personnel.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
