What Condenser Cleaning Due Means
Liebherr asks for dust to be removed from the refrigeration unit and the heat exchanger — the metal grid at the back — once a year, and for ventilation grilles to be cleaned regularly. In a commercial kitchen with flour, grease or fabric dust in the air, once a year is the manufacturer's minimum rather than a generous allowance.
Common Causes of Condenser Cleaning Due
- A year or more of ordinary kitchen dust on the condenser fins
- Flour, grease or textile fibres in the air of a bakery, kitchen or laundry-adjacent room
- Ventilation grilles obstructed by stored packaging or equipment
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the appliance off and remove the plug or the fuse before going near the grid, because the parts behind it are live and the fins are sharp. Then brush and vacuum rather than blowing dust further into the unit. Liebherr also warns against steam cleaners anywhere on these appliances.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A blocked condenser makes the compressor run longer and hotter for the same cooling, which shows up first as a bigger electricity bill and later as a shorter appliance life.
- Cleaning is only half the answer where the cause is a dusty environment — a cabinet in a bakery may need the grid cleared several times a year rather than once.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
