What Climate Rating 4 / 4+ / 5 Means
Liebherr rates its professional cabinets on a numeric climate scale printed on the type plate, mapped onto the familiar letters: 4 covers SN and N, 4+ covers ST and SN-ST, and 5 covers T and SN-T, reaching up to plus 43 degrees Celsius. The instruction attached is unambiguous — do not operate the appliance outside the specified room temperature range.
Common Causes of Climate Rating 4 / 4+ / 5
- A cabinet rated for a cool room installed in a hot kitchen or a pass
- Ambient temperature rising above the rating during summer service
- A cabinet bought for one site and redeployed to a hotter one
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Read the rating off the type plate and then measure the kitchen at its worst, not at nine in the morning. A cabinet rated to plus 32 standing in a pass that reaches 38 during service is being asked for something the manufacturer never specified.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A cabinet failing because of ambient temperature is not a broken cabinet, and a service call that ends in a climate-rating conversation is an expensive way to read a type plate.
- If the room is genuinely inside the rating and the cabinet still cannot hold temperature, the environment has been eliminated and the appliance has not.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
