Check for the Alarm First
Most Liebherr units sound an audible alarm and flash the temperature display the moment internal temperature drifts outside the safe range. If yours is doing this, don’t silence it and walk away — it’s telling you the fault is active right now, not that it already happened.
Rule Out the Obvious
Confirm SuperCool or SuperFrost hasn’t been left engaged (both run the compressor harder than normal by design), and check that the condenser area at the back or base of the unit is clear of dust buildup, which noticeably reduces cooling efficiency over time.
When It’s the Sensor, Not the Compressor
A failed temperature sensor is one of the most common causes we diagnose — the compressor keeps running, but the control board is no longer getting an accurate reading, so it can’t regulate properly. This looks identical to a dead compressor from the outside, which is exactly why a proper diagnostic matters before parts get replaced unnecessarily.
