An ice maker that’s stopped producing, or is making noticeably less than it used to, is one of the most common service calls on units equipped with the feature — and it’s almost always a self-contained fault, not a sign of a broader cooling problem.
Check the Water Supply First
A kinked supply line, a partially closed shutoff valve, or an overdue water filter restricting flow are the most common causes, in roughly that order. These are also the easiest to rule out yourself before calling for service.
Freezer Temperature Matters
If the freezer compartment itself is running even a few degrees warmer than its target, ice production slows or stops well before the compartment feels noticeably warm to the touch — making this an easy thing to overlook as the actual cause.
The Ice Maker Module Itself
If water supply and freezer temperature both check out, the ice maker’s own motor, thermostat, or water inlet solenoid may have failed. These are self-contained, routine replacements for a technician familiar with Liebherr’s ice maker assembly.
