Door seals take more abuse in coastal, humid climates than almost anywhere else in the country, and a Liebherr unit’s performance depends heavily on that seal staying flexible and fully sealed. A little routine care goes a long way toward avoiding an early replacement.
Wipe Seals Monthly
Clean gaskets with warm water and a mild, non-abrasive soap once a month. Salt-laden air and general humidity accelerate the rubber’s breakdown, and food residue left in the folds speeds that up further.
The Paper Test
Close the door on a strip of paper so it’s gripped by the seal, then gently pull it out. If it slides free with little resistance, that section of the gasket has lost its grip and is due for inspection.
Why This Matters More on the Coast
Our technicians see meaningfully faster gasket wear on service calls in humid coastal metro areas like Miami and San Diego compared to drier inland regions — a compromised seal forces the compressor to run far more than it should, which shortens the life of everything downstream.
If a seal looks cracked, brittle, or no longer grips a test strip, book a seal replacement before it turns into a bigger repair.
