What F3 / F4 / HE Means
The GGv commercial upright freezers use a short, specific problem set rather than the long ranges found on household cabinets: F3, F4 and HE. Liebherr gives all three the same meaning — the appliance has a problem — and asks that the number shown is quoted when the call is placed, because on this controller the displayed code is what the technician works from.
Common Causes of F3 / F4 / HE
- An internal problem the controller has recorded against that identifier
- A sensing or regulation circuit reporting outside its accepted range
- HE is a distinct display from the F-numbers, which suggests a separate group of internal checks
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Record which of the three is showing, keep the door shut, and get the type plate details together. If the cabinet is still holding temperature, an independent thermometer in the load tells you how much time you actually have, which matters far more in a kitchen than it does at home.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A commercial freezer usually carries stock worth more than the appliance, and the window between a code appearing and a load being at risk is shorter than most kitchens assume.
- Liebherr states that repairs and work on these appliances should be carried out by the customer service department, because unauthorised work can be dangerous for the user.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
