What Self-Closing Door Not Closing Means
Liebherr fits a self-closing door to its drinks cabinets specifically so that a customer who opens it and walks away does not leave the case bleeding cold air. When that mechanism stops pulling the door home, the cabinet loses its only defence against exactly the behavior it was designed for.
Common Causes of Self-Closing Door Not Closing
- The cabinet no longer standing level after being moved
- Bottles or wire shelves projecting far enough to catch the door
- Hinge wear after years of public use in a self-service area
- A hinge side changed during installation and not reassembled correctly
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the cabinet is level first, because a self-closing hinge relies on gravity and a case that has been dragged across an uneven floor will stop working before the hinge does. Then look at whether shelving or stock is fouling the door as it swings.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A display case left standing open in a shop runs continuously and still fails to hold temperature, which turns a hinge problem into both an energy bill and a stock problem.
- These are heavy glass doors on tall cabinets, and a door that has started to drop is a door that will eventually come off its hinge in front of customers.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
