What Glass Door Condensation Means

Liebherr designs against condensation on these cabinets in three separate ways: a hot-gas frame heater around the glass on the chest models, recessed door seals, and glazing with low heat permeability. When a display case starts fogging, one of those three has usually stopped doing its job — or the room has changed rather than the cabinet.

Common Causes of Glass Door Condensation

  • Room humidity rising above what the installation can cope with
  • The frame heating no longer warming the glass surround on a chest or lidded model
  • A door seal that has flattened, letting cold air onto the outer face of the glass
  • A door propped or held open during busy trade, so the glass never dries

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Before suspecting the appliance, look at what changed around it. Liebherr names high humidity as the condition the frame heater exists to handle, so a case that fogs only in summer, only after the floor is mopped, or only when a door nearby is propped open is reacting to the room. Wipe the glass and see whether it returns under the same conditions.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • A permanently fogged case is a commercial problem before it is a mechanical one — the stock cannot be seen, which is the entire point of a display cabinet.
  • Telling a heater problem from a humidity problem means checking the glass surround temperature while the cabinet runs, which is not something you can judge by hand through a wet pane.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

Glass Door Condensation FAQ

No. Liebherr treats condensation on glass as a known consequence of high humidity, which is exactly why the frame heater exists. A case that fogs on one damp afternoon and clears afterwards has not failed.

It does — it points away from the refrigeration and toward the glass heating or the seals, because a cabinet with a cooling problem would be showing you warm stock as well as wet glass.
